Free and low-cost IT drop-ins
Book a regular time and we’ll be there, so people get free IT help without your organisation having to provide it.
Community Hubs is a drop-in IT support service run through an organisation. You book a timeslot, we turn up, and anyone who comes along can bring a device or a question, at no cost to them.
Three kinds of hub
Same format, three audiences.
Digital Community Hubs
For marae, libraries and community organisations: everyday tech help for the people who use your space.
Business Community Hubs
For business networks, chambers and incubators: quick, practical answers for sole traders and people starting out.
Retirement Living
For retirement villages: patient, everyday tech help for residents, arranged directly or through your village.
Digital Community Hubs
For marae, libraries and other community organisations. Anyone using your hub can bring a device or a question.
Devices
Phones, tablets and laptops: setup, troubleshooting, and getting comfortable with something new.
Getting online
Wifi, email, apps, and the basics of using the internet safely.
Scams and safety
Help spotting scams and dodgy messages, and locking down accounts.
Government and services
Support using services like MyIR, RealMe or other online forms.
Staying in touch
Video calls, messaging and photos, so people can keep up with family.
Anything else
If it’s a quick question about technology, we’ll do what we can in the time available.
Business Community Hubs
For business networks, chambers, incubators and other groups supporting sole traders and first-time business owners.
Getting set up online
A website, social media, online payments or basic admin tools: what you actually need to start.
Everyday tech decisions
Which apps, software or devices are worth paying for, and which aren’t.
Staying secure
Keeping your business, your customers and your accounts safe from the start.
General direction
Not sure what your first step should be? Talk it through and we’ll help you work out what’s next.
Where to go next
If a question is legal, financial or otherwise outside what we do, we’ll point you toward someone who can help.
Anything digital
If it touches technology, ask. If we can’t help directly, we’ll say so.
Retirement Living
Patient, reliable IT support for retirement village residents, arranged directly with you or through your village.
For residents
Support for your own devices and technology, arranged and paid for directly, in the same way as our personal IT service.
For villages
Your village books a regular drop-in session for residents, the same way as our other Community Hubs, or arranges ongoing support directly with management.
Devices
Phones, tablets, laptops and smart TVs: setup, fixing problems, and getting comfortable with them.
Staying in touch
Video calls, messaging and photos, so keeping up with family and friends is easy.
Scams and safety
Help spotting scams and phishing, and keeping accounts and devices secure.
Wifi and connections
Getting your wifi and internet working properly, wherever you’re based in the village.
Printing and paperwork
Printers, scanners, and anything else that’s meant to make life easier but usually doesn’t.
Anything else
If it’s a technology question, ask. We’ll tell you whether we can help.
Three ways to make it happen
However it’s paid for, it’s free for the people who turn up.
Free
We can run sessions at no cost to your organisation, when we have the capacity.
Your organisation covers it
You book and pay for the timeslot, and it stays free for everyone who drops in.
Sponsored
A grant, donation or other third party covers the cost, so neither your organisation nor the people using it pay anything.
How it works
STEP 1
Book a timeslot
Tell us when suits, whether that’s a regular weekly session or a one-off.
STEP 2
We turn up
We’re there for the booked slot, ready to help with whatever people bring.
STEP 3
People drop in
Anyone attending can bring a device or a question. No booking needed on their end, and no cost.
